Noise When Shifting Gears
When you shift gears you feel a slight pause, then hear a clunk. It may sound like it is coming from the front or rear of the car. This problem will likely gradually get worse. Typical causes of this problem include:
- There are worn constant velocity joints(CV joints) or Universal joints (U-joints)
- The differential unit may be worn and may have too much backlash
AAMCO Center technicians are the experts in all components of the drive train: CV joints, U-joints, differentials, and axles. Take your car, truck or SUV to your local AAMCO Center for the AAMCO External Diagnostic Service for manual transmission vehicles. We’ll get to the bottom of the problem and get you and your vehicle back on the road as quickly as possible.
